How to bring back your website visitors for more

Posted on 27th March 2023

How to bring back your website visitors for more has many aspects that you should consider.

It is demanding to get visitors to your site and keeping them for more than a few seconds creates one challenge. Getting them to come back for more is also demanding. Both issues require an approach to your website design and content that we will examine here.

Website design should focus on your target audience

Designing your website so that it appeals to your target audience is a key matter to consider.

Let’s start with the website listings and content. Are they written and presented so that they  appeal to your target audience.

For example, if you are selling products or services to an audience of in say the 20 to 30 age group you will need content that draws them in. This younger age group are familiar with social media and smart phone technology will have a level of expectation from your website. As a minimum, it needs to have easy to follow content and well a thought out mobile presentation.

Have you considered having customised landing pages where you feature product or services you know appeals to your target audience. This will make it easier for your audience to engage when they return.

Consider analysing your website traffic and which pages your audience visits the most. These pages could then be shown in the ‘Most popular’ products/ services section in your website, thereby making your site navigation a bit easier.

Add content that is new and interesting to your website

Adding new content is always a good idea, especially if it well focused and likely to be valued by your audience.

You could highlight new content on your site, so visitors find it easily. You could consider having a ‘new’ or ‘breaking news’ button so that visitors go straight to the news and not have to navigate through lots of pages to find it.

Create a good user experience on your website

There are many aspects to the user experience that can be catered for in your website design.

Your website must be a set up to be a good experience whether it is a mobile phone, tablet, or laptop. Within this there are also a lot of different size mobile phones to be catered for. This is an absolute minimum now for any website experience.

The website layout should be clean and uncluttered if you are to get and retain the attention of uses.

Ask users of your website for contact information

Asking user for users contact information has become much more difficult than it used to be. People are now much more wary of giving emails and other contact information because of concern about privacy.

As a general guidance you should only asked for contact information after the user has interacted with content in your site.

Consider giving special offers in return for user signing up for your newsletter or similar promotion. This approach is used a lot by retailers and can be very successful in bringing back the customer or potential customer.
